In commitment to a long-term dream, I signed up for a beginner 6-week wheel throwing class in Austin, TX.
This was my first time working with clay since middle school art camp (so, it's been a while!) and I learned/triumphed/failed spectacularly! There's something so beautiful and rare about working in a space that requires you to let go of control and feel your way through. I think I like it behind the pottery wheel!
(Disclaimer: the image of me below is after many weeks of practice)

Outdoor pottery studio in Austin.

My tallest bowl to date!

Choosing glazes!
Below are some process photos:

One of my very first throws! Learning the feel of the wheel.

Learning how to build proper walls.

The wonderfully messy process of trimming.

Fired pots ready for glazing!

The final product! Ready to be gifted to the friends & family that listened to me talk about my new hobby nearly every day.
I am now on the hunt for a new studio here in St. Petersburg, FL to continue my practice!
